RALLY GAME- Connections: Tuesday’s game is all about patterns!
Based on the popular New York Times game called “Connections”, the participants will use the Dreamwork characters and work with their partner to observe patterns and group them up. They have unlimited time but only 4 guesses. If they don’t finish and run out of guesses they are eliminated.
Now to start off, today was incredibly messy with plenty of technical difficulties.
All representatives were called to stage and scan a QR code with their shared phone to start the came. They were told to keep in mind the patterns between characters that were shown on the TV screen such as Po, Eep, Boss Baby,Metro man and Megamind.
Using the QR code and the shared phone they began to work together diligently. Many different reactions throughout the representatives. Whispering and smiling coming from the freshmen. Gazing towards the TV from the seniors, quiet thinking from the juniors and to the side some jumps in excitement from guessing the group right from the sophomores. Seems to be going well although all is tense when they are trying their hardest to not be eliminated.
They were about ⅓ of the way through the game when The rally coordinator spoke to say that since most people are running out of guesses too fast, they will get a second chance using the other partner’s phone. What was unaware to them was that once the representative used all of their guesses they were shown the answers of the game.
The Sophomores were the first to be eliminated due to them guessing an out of the box group, assuming they had an extra four chances. Once they realized that they now knew the answers and could not get extra changes there began a bit of panic. Only ending in 2 categories guessed correctly there was little chance of winning.
This resulted in the other representatives making sure to take their time yet soon after the Juniors were eliminated with only 1 category correct. They were left with the Seniors and Freshmen who were eliminated in that order. All three, Sophomore, Senior and Freshman representatives guessed 2 categories correctly leading to a 3 way tie.
With quick problem solving they decided to play the classic game of rock-paper-scissors. The very tense game of rock-paper-scissors with Alaya Potts (12), Natalie West (10) and Taige Benham (9) began. Alaya played rock while Natalie and Taige were in the same mindset choosing paper. They were both now only 1 rock-paper-scissors game away from winning the game and earning their year 100 points. Their final game between Natalie (10) and Taige (9) where it was rock vs scissors.
The Sophomores had won this game exceeding all odds adding another win to their collection.
The winning categories were …
Tiny characters: Boss Baby, Tiny Diamond, Sandy, Mort
DreamWorks Leading Ladies: Eep, Fiona, Astrid, Tigress
Characters with powers: Turbo, Jack Frost, Metro Man, Po
All Blue Characters: Megamind, Bob, Ruby Guilman, Biggy
Do you think you could have guessed these?
