On May 4th, West Campus ASB announced that the 4th and final rally of the 2024-2025 school year would be video games themed. The announcement left many students confused, wondering what the rally would eventually look like.

“The theme is so broad, posters may not look cohesive.” One student commented on the theme. “I’m interested to see how class officers pull this off. My concern is if there’s a penalty for not being cohesive enough.”

Poster Designs

Almost immediately after the announcement, the Senior Class put out a poll to gather opinion from their peers on adding the game Fortnite to their poster.

This was met with approval from the class.

Prior to the announcement, the Sophomore Class put out a form on google classroom asking for red video game characters, presumably to set-up their vision for their poster.

Members of the Sophomore Class gave their characters, with popular submissions being Freddy Fazbear and Mario.

The form was shortly deleted, as it was considered leaking the rally theme and gathering an unfair advantage.

It is unknown what the Junior Class will prioritize on their poster, but they did claim Minecraft as a main game they would use on their poster.

The Freshman Class has kept their development for their poster under wraps, remaining unusually quiet about their plans. The games they claimed for their poster are unknown.

Altogether, the classes seem to be taking different approaches to the rally theme. Cohesiveness as a factor remains pretty low.

The Rally Chant

Many students opened up about their concerns for different aspects of the Rally Theme. “It’s hard to base a chant off of video games. I can see the vision, and ideas, but the problem is—will students be motivated or willing to do the chant? My class specifically struggles with the problem that they think they’re too cool to participate. If they think it’s cringeworthy, a good majority will not participate. That’s what keeps us from winning.”

To our knowledge, the Sophomore Class held a chant practice in Mrs. Cannady’s English 10 classes on Monday of last week.

“The chant was complex.” One Sophomore comments. “There’s nothing referencing video games, but it’s hard to, given there’s almost nothing to write about.”

Hallways?

Hallways, a factor of rallies that was skipped during the Spring Rally, may be coming back for the final rally. The resolution passed ASB while talks of the rally theme were underway.

Each class may decorate their respective breezeway hallways to earn spirit points.

At this time, it is unknown what a majority of classes will be doing to handle hallways during this rally.
