With the Dreamworks Rally Week starting soon, it’s time we address a common misconception and rumor about West Campus Rallies. The Seniors, and their ways of getting points.
That rumor? The thinking that just because they are Seniors, the Class of 2025 gets extra rally points. And no, that is not true at all. We all are just simply not better than the Seniors.
We sat down with Kate Searle, our West Campus Rally Head, and asked her questions about the subject. “Um, absolutely not. They get points the same way every other class does.” Searle says. “They put all the same time, effort, and hard work into rallies.

The thought that Seniors get unmerited Rally Points discredits all of the work gone into planning and excecuting rallies. I am sure that this rumor was just created because someone was angry that they didn’t win, not pointing any fingers. Even I heard it as a Freshman.
“As the rally head it’s almost insulting that people think Seniors get special treatment. I work my butt off to make sure everything is fair to all the classes.” Searle states. “I test all the games several times to work out kinks, I try to consider every little outcome, and when things do go wrong I listen to all the classes opinons to work things out.”
“If we gave away points to Seniors, we’d lose the magic of rallies. That seems cheesy, but it’s true.” Searle adds. And I agree. Let’s think ethically for one second, which I know is sometimes hard for some of us. Would it really make sense to award the Seniors with unnecessary points if they’re already the most competitive? The simple answer is no, just in case you can’t think for yourselves either.
The efforts of other classes should be looked at to find the answer to the question, “Why do the Seniors keep winning?” Some classes do not put forth the same effort that matches or beats the Class of 2025. The Seniors have come 1st for the Spirit and Chant categories of the rally. This is even true for the Class of 2024 when they were Seniors, and the Class of 2023 too.
The Seniors have always had the most rally experience, and arguably have the most pressure placed on them to win. So of course, it makes sense for them to be the most competitive and play their hardest to win. “Seniors tend to win because it’s their 4th year of doing this. They know all the ins and outs and in some ways it means the most to them.” Says Searle.
Moral of the story, do not discredit hard work, just because you’ve lost.
“They work extremely hard, just like all the other classes. And I see that every rally.”
